Battery
Recycling ServicesBatteries that are generated by
households in small quantities or in large quantities
from industrial facilities are in most cases considered
hazardous waste and must be managed properly. Most
"household" batteries and industrial batteries
fail the toxicity characteristic test (TCLP) for mercury,
silver, lead, chromium, and/or cadmium. Batteries, when
disposed of must meet the specified treatment standards
under land disposal restrictions: and some batteries
(i.e., nickel-cadmium, lead, acid and mercury) have
specific technologies that must be utilized under federal
and state regulatory requirements.
Reclamation of usable materials from batteries is an economical and environmentally sound decision. Recycling can reduce the risk of future financial liabilities associated with land disposal. Additionally, battery recycling gives a generator credit for waste minimization at an effective price. Mercury Waste Solutions, Inc. is authorized under Universal Wastes to receive all types of batteries on a bill-of-lading. This allows the original generator to not classify the batteries as a "hazardous waste" when shipped to us. All processing is completed under Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) operating guidelines and a certificate of recycling which fully documents the processing of each shipment in included with every invoice. In addition, our operations are backed by a $5,000,000 comprehensive pollution insurance policy. Mercury Waste Solutions, Inc., can provide a battery collection and segregation plan for you as well as coordinate packaging and transportation to our recycling facility.
